He Can Make a Way

And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

Exodus 14:13–14

I may not understand fully the circumstances you are going through today or the depths of your despair as you watch your loved one fighting to stay alive. But what I do know is this: God loves you more than you can ever comprehend, and He can make a way even when there seems to be no way.

Exodus 14 records how the children of Israel thought they were doomed when the mighty Egyptian army closed in on them. It appeared they would either be slaughtered by the Egyptians or perish in the watery grave of the Red Sea. But read what Moses said to them in the verses above. Then God split open the sea, and the children of Israel “walked on dry land in the midst of the sea” (Ex. 14:29).

But God didn’t stop there. He caused the sea to return to its full depth while Pharaoh’s formidable forces were still in pursuit, and I love how the Bible spells this out: “Not so much as one of them remained” (Ex. 14:28).

Beloved, you or your loved one might be faced with a daunting and seemingly impossible medical situation. All your fretting and tears cannot change your situation, but there is One who can. Do not be afraid.

Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. He will fight for you. He will overcome your enemies for you. Don’t keep asking why you have the disease. Don’t accept the disease or believe the lie that you deserve to be sick because of the wrong you have done. The Lord Jesus has already paid the price for your wholeness. Just put your hand in His and let Him lead you through your situation.

He will cause you to walk on dry land in the midst of the sea. The negative reports, medical statistics, and symptoms that you see may spell an inescapable situation, but He will make a way that will stun everyone around you. The Red Sea you thought would drown you will become the burial ground for your enemies instead. You might see them today, but you shall see those oppressive symptoms no more forever!

I see your migraine headaches gone. The inflammation in your joints gone. The paralyzing fatigue gone. The negative report about your unborn baby gone. The blood in your urine gone. Not so much as one of them will remain!

Transformed by God’s Favor

The goodness of God leads you to repentance.

Romans 2:4

Let me share with you a testimony of a youth whose life has been wonderfully transformed by the unmerited favor of God. This young man smoked his first cigarette when he was only 9 years old. By the time he was 14, he was already a seasoned gangster, peddling as well as taking drugs, and selling pirated movies.

With the money earned, he would treat his gang members to fancy clothes or meals, and even cover transport expenses for them to congregate for gang fights! At 15, the law caught up with him and he was sent to a boys’ reformatory home where he realized that his life needed to be turned around. And that was when God came into the picture. He said:

The home was where I first encountered God, even though I did not know it was Him then. One of my counselors, a Christian lady, prayed for me and for the first time in my life, I felt that there was “someone” watching over me. I did not think much about it then, but that’s when my heart and my perspective on life began to change.

I started attending New Creation Church (NCC) in September 2005. A friend had invited me to NCC earlier, but I declined. However, one day I happened to oversleep on the train and missed my stop. The platform I got off on was completely deserted, but I noticed a plastic bag left on one of the benches. I looked at its contents to see if I could tell who it belonged to and realized that inside it were actually sermon CDs from NCC!

So even when I didn't want to attend NCC, God sent the church to me! It was no coincidence. It was God-directed! When I played the CDs at home out of curiosity, the presence of God was so real. I experienced such intimacy with God. As I listened to Pastor Prince’s teachings, I knew that this was the God I had always believed in, a God who loves me regardless of who I am or what I do!

Pastor Prince’s teachings have set me free and given me a supernatural strength and passion to do His work. I don’t feel any more bondage when it comes to communicating with God, knowing that He can lead me in every situation.

The most significant change I have experienced has been my inward transformation. I used to have a very bad temper, which got me into a lot of fights because I was easily provoked. Being conscious of His love for me has delivered me from that. I also went from failing in high school to doing well enough in the polytechnic to qualify for a place in a university.

This young man is now a confident, cheerful person with a bright future. He gives talks at schools and at the boys’ reformatory home that he was in to share his journey with the youths and to encourage them. His life has been so incredibly transformed that even a government agency has enlisted him to speak to troubled youths.

He says that ever since Jesus entered His life, he has seen the Lord's grace and favor superabound in his life. Many doors have opened for him and his life has really been enriched, with breakthroughs in areas such as his work, studies, family, and relationships. Let’s give Jesus all the glory!

That’s what our young people need—a revelation of Jesus’ perfect love for them! There is a lost and dying world out there.

My friend, the Ten Commandments cannot be the only thing that youths know about Christianity anymore! How can they help but think that Christianity is nothing but rules, laws, and regulations on what they should or should not be doing? How can they help but imagine God to be someone who is angry with them and looking for opportunities to punish them?

If the young people in your community are to come to Jesus, they will need to know that Christianity is an intimate relationship with a loving God. Once they know this, they will be banging down the doors of churches every Sunday to get in to hear Jesus and His grace preached!

Beloved, I pray that like the young man whose testimony you just read, you will continue to allow Jesus to show you more and more of His perfect love for you every day.

The Mother of All Fears

Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Hebrews 2:14–15

My friend, in Christ you have been redeemed from all fears. You no longer need to live in fear of judgment, punishment, and condemnation from God for your sins. Because you are a believer in Jesus, the curse of the law and its ministry of death and condemnation no longer have a hold over you!

His Word victoriously proclaims that “Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified)” (Gal. 3:13 AMP). You have been redeemed!

Do you know what the mother of all fears is? Today’s scripture shows us that it is the fear of death. Why do believers come under the fear of death when they’ve been forgiven, justified, and redeemed?

It’s simple: when believers don’t believe that all their sins have been punished and forgiven through the death of Jesus Christ at the cross, their consciences are never at rest. As a result, the wages of sin, which is death, continues to oppress them and keep them under bondage.

But here’s the good news: God’s Word tells us that through His death, our Lord broke the power of death the devil had over us. Why did He do all this?

To “release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” Clearly, our Lord Jesus wants us free from the fear of death and from any bondage.

Read Hebrews 2:15 again and you’ll see that the fear of death leads to other fears and bondages—“those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” People who fear death automatically fear falling sick, so they worry about their health all the time. Every little symptom causes them anxiety and keeps them running to doctors.

Many times the fear of death is the root of people’s fear of flying, driving, or simply going to the mall because they imagine the worst things happening to them. For some people, the fear of death is so severe that it interferes with their daily life. It consumes their thoughts and negatively affects the decisions they make.

If that’s you today, I encourage you to take the time to anchor yourself in the truth of Hebrews 2:14–15. Know beyond the shadow of any doubt that Jesus, through His death at the cross, has set you free from the fear of death, and with it every bondage you may be in right now.

Verse 15 shows us clearly that the moment the fear of death is removed from your heart, your bondage is removed. Your very susceptibility to being in bondage is removed. Hallelujah! Jesus died on the cross to set you free. The more you are established in this truth, the more you’ll experience the abundant life He came to give you.

Know His Will

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

John 10:10

Are you currently battling a medical condition and wondering if the disease is somehow from God? Maybe you think He is punishing you for something you did and that there is a lesson He wants you to learn.

If you have believed any of the lies above, then you have fallen prey to Satan, who is the great deceiver and father of lies (Rev. 12:9, John 8:44 NLT). His modus operandi is to deceive you, and his master strategy is to convince you sickness is actually from God.

I want you to know in no uncertain terms that your heavenly Father loves you, and He wants you well. He does not want your life to be cut short by sickness, and it is never His plan for you or your loved ones to suffer any sickness or disease.

I want you to be very clear on this: there is an enemy who wants to destroy you. Our Lord Jesus said that Satan has come to steal, kill, and destroy. Satan is a murderer (John 8:44).

When Satan deceived Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, sin came into the world. But man did not just lose his position of righteousness. We also lost our relationship with God and confidence in His heart for us. Fear and condemnation entered, robbing us of our faith and our trust in a good God.

Satan wants to steal from you your health, your youth, and your joy.

He wants to destroy every dream you have cherished and rip you from the embrace of the people in your life. He wants to kill you because he knows there is a call and purpose on your life that only you can fulfill, and he wants to find every way to snuff you out.

Every time you find yourself or your loved ones being robbed, be it of health, finances, or family relationships, God is never behind it. Man was created to enjoy everything God has provided, and that includes health.

Our Lord Jesus said He came that we “may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” When He said this, He wasn’t simply referring to biological life. The Greek word used for life here is zoe, and it refers to the highest form of life, the life God lives by. He does not want you to simply keep breathing. He came to give you a quality of life God Himself possesses, a life that is beyond ordinary human life.

Can you see His heart for you? He wants you to live a long, satisfying life full of His goodness, wholeness, and peace. That is His will for you!

Change the Way You Think

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.

Romans 12:2 NLT

When you hear preaching declaring that you need to repent, is your first impression of repentance something that involves mourning and sorrow? If we are to repent, it is important that we know what the word “repent” means in the first place. It is the Greek word metanoeo, which simply means “to change one’s mind.” Repentance just means changing your mind.

This means that even if we do not use the word “repent” all the time on God’s people, every time they sit under anointed preaching of His Word, repentance is still occurring—their minds are being changed about their old beliefs that held them in bondage and receiving the truth that liberates them.

Even as you are reading this, repentance is going on. You are renewing your mind with the good news of Jesus. You are becoming more and more conscious of His finished work and your righteousness in Christ. When you begin to receive the revelation that you are no longer under the old covenant of law, but are now under the new covenant of grace, the Bible calls that repentance!

I want to share a praise report from Dave, who resides in Dallas. His story demonstrates how the truth liberates our minds from old beliefs that keep us in bondage and rob us of joy and victory in our lives:

For a long time, my wife and I believed that though we were saved by grace, it was through our own efforts that we could become the Christians we were called to be. We sat under a ministry that taught you had to walk out your Christian life by doing “good works,” so we both served in the children’s ministry, led Bible study, served the Holy Communion, tithed, and worked at vacation Bible schools during the summer months.

We did all this because we were taught that it would “please” God. The sad thing was that the more we tried to “please” God, the less we enjoyed serving Him. Eventually, it became so much like work that we all but stopped serving and became resigned to living a less-than-fulfilling Christian life.

Then, just over a year ago, we came across your television broadcast. We listened hungrily to what you shared and knew that this was the message and revelation that would change us as Christians.

Every night of the next month, my wife would read aloud excerpts from one of your teaching resources, and we would be amazed at the teachings, examples, and revelations that were in the book (and that would transform our lives). We would discuss them until late at night marveling at the revelation of God’s grace and love. The power of those revelations in the book began a process that is still continuing today.

For example, all the thoughts we had about what would please God were radically changed. No longer were we living under a cloud of condemnation because we didn’t read the Bible long enough, didn’t repent and pray enough, didn’t serve enough, or didn’t give enough to enjoy the blessings of God. Faith and love for the Lord just arose in our hearts when we discovered that it wasn’t about us at all, but about the finished work of Jesus on the cross, that it was His righteousness and His righteousness alone that qualified my wife and I for all the blessings of God.

Joy returned to our lives and our relationship with each other changed. No longer were we condemning each other, but loving each other as we experienced God loving us. It changed our relationship with Him and continues to impact our family to this day, as we continue to sit under the ministry of grace.

Moreover, the joy of serving has returned to us as it is now an outflow of what God has poured into us through His grace. We no longer see serving Him as being a “work” but an honor and privilege. We are so grateful to Him for leading us as a couple to feed on His love for us through the finished work of Jesus Christ!

Do you see that what you believe about God powerfully impacts your entire life? When you allow the truth of His love and grace to replace wrong beliefs about Him in your mind, you will find joy, fulfillment, and victory replacing defeat, exhaustion, and bondage in all areas of your life. Keep hearing and feeding on the word of His grace, and like Dave, see Him transform you, your family, and your ministry from glory to glory!

The Right Definition of Righteousness

I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Galatians 2:21 KJV

What has a right understanding of your righteousness got to do with expecting good to happen to you today? Everything!

Many believers associate righteousness with a list of things that they have to do, and if they fulfill this list, they feel "righteous." Conversely, when they fail in terms of their behavior, they feel “unrighteous.” But this is the wrong definition and understanding of righteousness.

Let’s go back to what the Bible has to say. Look at 2 Corinthians 5:21: "For He [God] made Him [Jesus Christ] who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him [Jesus Christ].” We are not righteous because we do right. We became righteous because of what Jesus did for us at the cross.

“Righteousness,” therefore, is not based on our right doing. It is based entirely on Jesus’ right doing. Christianity is not about doing right to become righteous. It is all about believing right in Jesus to become righteous.

Do you realize that we have been conditioned to associate being blessed with doing right? Most belief systems are based on a system of merit whereby you need to fulfill certain requirements—give to the poor, do good to others and care for the underprivileged—to attain a certain state of righteousness. It all sounds very noble, self-sacrificial, and appealing to our flesh, which likes to feel that our good works have earned us our righteousness.

But God is not looking at your nobility, sacrifices, or good works to justify you. He is only interested in Jesus’ humility at the cross. He looks at His Son's perfect sacrifice at Calvary to justify you and make you righteous!

Attempting to be justified by your good works and trying your best to keep the Ten Commandments to become righteous is to negate the cross of Jesus Christ. It is as good as saying, “The cross is not enough to justify me. I need to depend on my good works to make myself clean and righteous before God.”

The apostle Paul said, “I do not frustrate the grace [unmerited favor] of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.” My friend, consider carefully what Paul is saying here. He is effectively saying that if you are depending on your good works, your doing, and your ability to keep perfectly the Ten Commandments to become righteous, then Jesus died for nothing! That’s what “in vain” means—for nothing!

So don’t frustrate the grace of God by depending on your good works to make yourself righteous and put God on your side. Jesus' sacrifice is more than enough to justify you! And when you know that you are justified, you can be confident that the unmerited favor of God is on your side and expect good to happen to you today!

No Fear

For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries . . . Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

Hebrews 10:26–27, 29

In preaching the total forgiveness of sins and assurance of salvation, I am often asked, But Pastor Prince, doesn’t the Bible say in Hebrews 10 that if we sin willfully, we can lose our salvation and expect God’s “judgment, and fiery indignation”?

Many believers are taught this today, and as a result, they become sin-conscious—always mindful and worried about their “willful sins,” and God’s judgment to come. When something bad does happen to them (they blow a tire on the road or contract a disease, for example), they immediately attribute it to God’s judgment of their mistakes. My dear reader, having this fear and perpetual judgment-consciousness is not how God the Father wants us to live.

I submit to you that almost every sin we commit after being saved (the exceptions being sins we commit unconsciously) is committed willfully. So this can’t be what Hebrews 10:26 is talking about or every believer would be living each day expecting God’s judgment and fiery indignation! What does it mean, then, to “sin willfully”? Is it something that a believer can do?

The first thing we need to understand is that the book of Hebrews was written to the Hebrews, or Jewish people (which included believers as well as nonbelievers). Hebrews 10:26, in particular, is addressing Jewish brethren who had received “the knowledge of the truth” (the Lord Jesus as their Messiah and His finished work), but never received this truth into their hearts. They heard the truth about Jesus, but were still going back to the temple to offer animal sacrifices for their sins.

This was an insult to the Spirit of grace, because they were flatly rejecting the Lord Jesus, Who in His great grace had offered Himself as the perfect and final sacrifice for their sins at Calvary. Clearly, in context, to “sin willfully” is to commit the specific sin of knowing the truth that Jesus is the final sacrifice, and yet choosing not to accept His finished work.

So you see, these verses are not targeted at believers. They are not addressing or referring to Christians who are “backsliding” or “going astray”; nor do they refer to Christians who sin in a moment of weakness or temptation. Genuine believers in Christ cannot commit this sin, simply because they have already believed in Jesus’ sacrifice and put their trust in the Lord’s finished work, and they are certainly not going back to any temple to offer animal sacrifices for sin. There is a massive difference between the two!

So what does God’s Word say when it comes to judgment and His children? The Greek word for “judgment” in Hebrews 10:27 is krisis, which means a sentence of “condemnation and punishment.” Now, turn with me to John 5:24 and read Jesus’ own words: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment [krisis], but has passed from death into life.” The same word for “judgment” (krisis) used in Hebrews 10:27 is used here in this scripture regarding believers.

My friend, can anything be clearer and more transparent? What is it that God wants us to be assured of? That we believers will never come into krisis judgment! We have passed from death into life. True believers need never fear the Lord’s judgment as all of the fire of judgment fell fully on our Lord at Calvary. Don’t let anyone rob you of your full assurance of salvation in Christ today. Amen!

The Superabundance of God’s Grace

Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.

Romans 5:20

In the Book of Romans, the apostle Paul said, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?” (Rom. 6:1). Obviously, Paul was preaching the grace of God so radically that he was misunderstood and accused of telling people to sin more so that grace may abound. Of course, that was not the case.

Paul never said, “Let us sin more so that grace may abound” (and by the way, neither have I). Sin is evil, and it leads to destructive consequences. But have you noticed in today’s scripture what it is that actually causes sin to increase?

Read today’s scripture again. Paul states very clearly that the law entered so that sin might abound. What this means is that the more you preach the law, the more sin will abound. After all, the strength of sin is the law (1 Cor. 15:56). Therefore, when you see sin and you preach more of the law, you are adding wood to fire!

In saying that “where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,” Paul meant this: sin does not stop God’s grace from flowing, but God’s grace will stop sin. Ask yourself which is greater, your sins or God’s grace? The answer is obvious. God’s grace is always greater!

In fact, when you read “where sin abounded, grace abounded much more” in the original Greek, it actually says that where sin abounded, grace superabounded. Greek scholar Kenneth Wuest captures this well in his translation of the verse: “where sin increased, grace superabounded, and then some on top of that.” How cool is that!

What Paul is saying is that where there is sin, where there is “a failing to hit the mark” (definition of “sin” by Thayer’s Greek Lexicon), that’s exactly where you will find God’s grace—His unmerited favor for your empowerment and victory—in superabounding measure. Isn’t that amazing?

Contrary to traditional thinking, God’s grace does not abandon you when you miss the mark. What a comfort and source of strength it is to know that His grace doesn’t leave us, but is right in the midst of our painful weaknesses, failings, and less-than-perfect situations to empower us to reign over them all!

My friend, maybe you have been struggling with a certain weakness or failing in some area of your life. It could be anger, unforgiveness, or an addiction that you can’t seem to kick. I encourage you to increase your exposure to God’s grace. Keep hearing preaching on the beauty of the person of Jesus and His finished work. Keep meditating on His love and what He has accomplished for you on the cross because grace is the only power that can stop sin in its tracks in your life.

When you fail, instead of feeling guilty and condemned, receive the superabounding grace of God that tells you that you are still righteous in Christ. It is His superabounding grace that will rescue you from that sin. Those who wallow in guilt and condemnation are the ones who have no ability to overcome their sins. Since they believe that God’s grace has departed, what hope can they have? Victory over sin comes only when people encounter the superabundance of God’s grace. It is His grace that has made sinners righteous!

Don’t miss out on this powerful revelation. This is the gospel of Jesus! Because all your sins have been punished in the body of your substitute, Jesus Christ, God’s righteousness is on your side, demanding your justification and forgiveness. That’s why, even when you fail, God’s grace will superabound and swallow up your failure that has been paid for at Calvary. Hallelujah!

I know it’s a shocker, but Jesus is not a Christian. God is not Jewish, by the way. And by the way, Jesus never, ever quoted the New Testament even once in the entire Gospel. Paul never used the New Testament to preach. I’m not trying to put down anything. I’m just trying to tell you, going to church today with only the New Testament and the Psalms is half the Bible, and I hope you paid half the price for it.

Galatians 4 says, “But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law.” He was a Jew of the tribe of Judah. “…to redeem those who were under the law, that we…” – say “we” – “…that we might receive the adoption as sons.”

We’re all adopted. You understand that in the rabbinical writings, adoption is even stronger than being born of your own mother and father. Do you know that being born to your own mother and father could be a planned thing or accident? Hello, you know? Something happened, you know? But there is no accidental adoption. You don’t live your life and accidentally you have adopted someone. To adopt someone is to choose someone as he is and to say, “I want him.” That’s the adoption that we all have.

The concept of “adoption” in scripture gives us two important points of understanding. The first comes from the Gospel of John:

John 1:12
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.

We often hear repeated the statement that we are “all God’s children” by those seeking to proclaim equality of all behaviors and beliefs. Here, John says this is not the case at all. Only those who have received Christ through belief in His name are God’s children. After all, you don’t have to adopt your own children.

The second point comes from Roman law. In ancient Rome, adoption had a powerful meaning. When a child was born naturally to its biological parents, the parents had the option of disowning the child for a variety of reasons. Thus, if the relationship or child was not necessarily desired by the parent, it could be disowned. In contrast, an adopted child could never be disowned because it was a conscious decision of the parents to to adopt the child.

Romans 8:15-17
For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Ephesians 1:13-14 remind us that the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is the guarantee of our future inheritance. Add to that what Paul says in Romans 8 and we can see that the presence of the Holy Spirit is also proof of our adoption, for it is by the Spirit that we can cry out “Abba Father!”

That means that as His adopted children, we cannot be disowned. Even when we blow it, even when we doubt, and even when we despair, we are still His children.

Romans 8:38-39
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

That is the best news you’re going to hear all day!

Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus 

God’s Guarantee of Your Precious Inheritance

God has revealed them [the things He has prepared for those who love Him] to us through His Spirit. . . . Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

1 Corinthians 2:10, 12

Even though you may not be able to see right now the good things that God has for your future, today’s scripture says that the Holy Spirit is in us to reveal to us the things that God has freely given to us. These are precious and priceless gifts, such as the gift of forgiveness, of no condemnation, of righteousness, of eternal life, and the different gifts of the Spirit that God has placed in all our lives!

Because you are a believer in Jesus Christ, not only have all your sins been forgiven, but you have also been justified by faith and made righteous by His blood. And the Holy Spirit lives in you! You have something that the patriarchs of the Old Testament never had.

Abraham, “the friend of God” (James 2:23), never had it. Moses, who led the children of Israel out of Egypt, never had it. And even David, whom the Bible calls “a man after [God’s] own heart” (Acts 13:22), never had it.

They had the Spirit on them, but not in them. Back then, the Holy Spirit would come and go (1 Sam. 16:13–14, Ps. 51:11). You and I, however, have been so perfectly cleansed by the blood of Jesus—once and for all—that the Holy Spirit now lives in us and abides with us forever (John 14:16–17)!

The apostle Paul tells us that when we believed in Jesus, He identified us as His own by giving us the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God’s guarantee that He will give us the inheritance He has promised and that He has purchased us to be His own people (Eph. 1:13–14).

My friend, when you believed the gospel and got saved, God sealed you with the Holy Spirit of promise to attest that you have been given the free gift of righteousness and the gift of eternal life through Jesus’ finished work. That is why when you hear the purity of the gospel of grace being preached, the Holy Spirit in you responds with great joy and great peace.

You Can’t Add to a Finished Work

But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Titus 3:4–7

It’s interesting to note in the biblical account of the crippled man being healed at Lystra that even as hearing the gospel of grace produced a wonderful miracle of healing, it also produced outright opposition to it.

The Jews there who held on to the old covenant of law came to see what all the commotion was about, won the crowd to their side, and began to stone Paul and left him for dead (Acts 14:19).

The gospel the apostle Paul preached is not a man-pleasing gospel and was opposed by legalists everywhere he went. (Today’s legalists are still doing the same thing. I call them the “religious mafia,” those who depend on their own efforts to achieve their own sense of righteousness.)

Yet, Paul preached the truth of the gospel even if it meant being stoned by his opponents and being expelled from cities. Why? Because the gospel is the power of God to salvation!

Are you faced with an impossible situation today? Are you trusting the Lord for a breakthrough or wanting to see more of His power in your life, body, finances, or career? If so, make sure you are hearing the gospel that Paul preached.

I encourage you to get hold of good teachings that are full of the good news of Jesus. The more you hear about Jesus, His beauty, His forgiveness, and His finished work, the more you will stop being preoccupied with yourself, your lack, and your weaknesses. You will become fully occupied with Jesus, His glory, His perfection, and His grace, and freedom, healing, and wholeness are the result!

Josephine, who lives in Virginia, adds a heartfelt “Amen!” to this truth. She is in her twenties and has been a Christian since she was very young. However, when she went to college, she fought a losing battle with depression that lasted seven years. Treated with therapy and medication, she had to constantly increase the dosage but still felt completely miserable and in her case, continually terrified.

People told her she just had to love God more, but she never seemed to measure up. She struggled with depression to the point she couldn’t even get up in the mornings because she was so tormented in her mind.

Then, her mom gave her one of my books. Josephine wrote to me and said, “After reading your book and accepting God’s love for me and trusting in Him and His finished work, I was totally and miraculously healed. I learned to just say, ‘God, I know that I cannot overcome this on my own. I rest in You. You live the victorious life for me. I know I cannot overcome these thoughts on my own, but I can rest in You.’

“I now live a life of joy and peace that I never imagined was possible for me. I am so in love with my Savior and now the gospel all makes sense. He first loved me and healed me, and now I have the ability to love and to live life with peace and joy. Just like the Word says, knowing the truth set me free!”

What an amazing testimony of the power of simply hearing and believing the gospel of grace. My friend, if you have been struggling with a particular challenge, keep feeding on the abundance of God’s grace through the hearing of the gospel.

Don’t let anyone from the “religious mafia” add more conditions to your forgiveness. You are already forgiven of all your sins simply because you believe in Jesus! Nothing more, nothing less.

This is the gospel that Paul preached. And when you get a hold of this truth and simply believe it, you will see the power of God come into your situation to give you the breakthrough you need!

He Is with You

“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Hebrews 13:5

If you are facing a medical challenge today, I pray the Lord will impart hope, life, and strength to you. Maybe you have gathered the Communion elements and have started to partake of them. If so, praise the Lord! Keep persevering till you receive your breakthrough.

But maybe you are thinking, I have read so many testimonies, and it feels like everyone else has received their breakthroughs and are experiencing their mountaintops. But where is God in my situation? Am I going to stay in this valley forever?

Beloved, I want you to know He never leaves you nor forsakes you. He is near to those who are brokenhearted (Ps. 34:18), and right now He is drawn to you in your situation as you cry out to Him.

He is both the God of the mountaintops and the God of the valleys (1 Kings 20:28). He is with you even in the valley, and because of that, you can have the confidence that you will get through it (Ps. 23:4).

I really believe knowing the truths about the holy Communion can mean the difference between life and death for you and your loved ones. In fact, I experienced the healing power of the holy Communion as I was writing my book, Eat Your Way to Life and Health.

When my six-year-old son, Justin, fell from a structure in the schoolyard and hurt his head, my wife, Wendy, took him to the hospital for a thorough checkup. The doctors put him through a CT scan and discovered he had fractured his skull. After he started throwing up, a more detailed scan found a second fracture in his skull. They also discovered some bleeding in his skull as well as blood in his middle ear.

It was heart-wrenching for me to watch my little boy crying and clutching his head, twisting and turning in a vain attempt to stop the intense pain. It was also not easy for me to look at the scans and listen to his doctor talk about the possible effect of the injury on Justin’s brain. Fear crept into my heart, and it was truly a fight to remain at rest.

Apart from giving him painkillers and monitoring him, the doctors couldn’t do much for Justin. But Wendy and I knew God could, and during the entire period of his hospitalization, we partook of the Communion with him at least three or four times each day.

Amazingly, every time we partook of the Communion with Justin, his headaches got less painful, and he got better and better. The doctors expected Justin to take at least six weeks to get better, but the Lord so accelerated his recovery that in less than three weeks, they gave him the all clear to return to school. All glory to Jesus!

Where God Meets and Speaks with You

“And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat.”

Exodus 25:22

In Old Testament times, once a year, on Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement, the high priest would go into the Holy of Holies and sprinkle the blood of an innocent animal on the mercy seat.

After the blood of the sacrifice was sprinkled on the mercy seat, all God saw of the ark of the covenant was the blood, and no longer the rebellion and failure of man as noted in the previous reading.

However, under the old covenant, the blood of the animal sacrifices only covered the sins of the children of Israel for one year. What happened on Yom Kippur was only a shadow.

Our Lord Jesus is the substance. He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, and His sacrifice on the cross was once and for all (John 1:29, Heb. 9:12)!

In Exodus 25:17–22, the Lord told Moses, “You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold . . . And you shall make two cherubim of gold; of hammered work you shall make them at the two ends of the mercy seat. . . . of one piece with the mercy seat. And the cherubim shall stretch out their wings above, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and they shall face one another; the faces of the cherubim shall be toward the mercy seat. You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the Testimony that I will give you. And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony, about everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel.”

Where will the Lord speak from? From above the mercy seat.

That is what my ministry is all about. I am preaching from above the mercy seat, preaching about His mercy and grace, about His shed blood, and about His finished work.

There are people who are preaching from the judgment seat, preaching about the law and how we have fallen short. The wages of sin is death. Under the law, there is no escaping death.

But this ministry is all about the Lord’s mercy, grace, favor, love, and protection.

Under grace, Jesus died our death on the cross. He was punished with the death we deserved for our sins. He gave up His protection on the cross, so that we may walk in divine protection today.
Hallelujah! Doesn’t this just fill your heart with assurance and peace today?

What a Friend We Have in Jesus

There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Proverbs 18:24

My friend, God is with you today because of His precious Son, Jesus. For God so loved the world, He gave His only Son, and His name is Immanuel. God gave us Jesus.

The presence of Jesus in your life is a free gift from God. There is no amount of good you can do to earn the presence of Jesus. There is no number of good works you can perform to merit His favor. His presence in your life is a free gift.

Now, because you did nothing to deserve His presence in your life, there is nothing you can do that will cause His presence to leave you. Once you have received Jesus into your heart, He will never leave you nor forsake you (Heb. 13:5)!

“But Pastor Prince, when I fail, doesn’t Jesus leave me?”

No, Jesus is right by your side to encourage you and restore you to wholeness. You may say, “But I don’t deserve it!” That’s right. That’s what makes it His unmerited favor in your life.

There is a beautiful psalm that says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the LORD upholds him with His hand" (Ps. 37:23–24).

When you fail, Jesus is there to uphold you. Unlike some of your so-called “friends,” He does not just take off. You can count on Him. He is a faithful, dependable, and trustworthy friend. Even when you have failed Him, He is right there with you, ready to pick you up and restore you to wholeness. Amen!

The Bible talks about a friend who “sticks closer than a brother.” That’s Jesus! Beloved, lean on His constant presence. Draw on His unfailing strength and support for you today.

Be Forgiveness-Conscious

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies.

Not too long ago, I was driving out for lunch with my wife, Wendy, and for some reason, every time she made a passing comment, I found myself snapping irritably at her or making an unnecessarily provocative remark.

Have you had one of those days?

When I reflected on why I was so irritable, I realized it was because I was actually feeling guilty about a couple of matters from earlier in the day. I hadn’t necessarily done anything wrong, but I’d just allowed a little bit of guilt to creep into my heart and unconsciously allowed condemnation to come in.

My friend, when you are walking under a cloud of judgment, you can become a really unpleasant person to be around. Trust me, I know what I am talking about. Even if you are an author of books about God’s grace and forgiveness, there can be moments where condemnation creeps into your heart and you are completely oblivious to it.

I thank God that when Wendy asked me if there was a reason for my irritability, He gave me that moment of clarity where I could see the condition of my heart. And praise Jesus for a discerning and perceptive wife who didn’t take my remarks personally and knew something was not right with me. I remember telling her to let me know the next time she noticed such behavior from me, because it’s so easy to slip into condemnation and guilt.

When you’re under guilt and condemnation, all day long you can feel lousy, and all your answers have a sting in them. That’s not the abundant life, and you know what it all comes back to? It comes back to having a constant sense of God’s forgiveness over your life. Instead of taking in and harboring all the guilt, condemnation, and judgment, we need to stand secure in our perfect forgiveness in Jesus.

There is a redeeming quality to being forgiveness-conscious, as opposed to being conscious of your failings, sins, and mistakes. When you are forgiveness-conscious and see your failings on the cross of Jesus, you receive power to break out of your irritability, impatience, and short-temperedness with others. You receive power to break out of your eating disorders, addictions, and anxieties!

When you realize that we don’t deserve God’s forgiveness and grace yet He gives it to us anyway, this revelation of His unmerited favor changes us from within. It dissolves the knots of anger and impatience in us that have built up over the years and frees us to enjoy God’s love and to show it to others!

God’s Love for You Is Personal, Detailed, and In-Depth

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

1 Peter 5:6–7

There are many believers today who don’t cast their cares upon the Lord. I believe that it is because they don’t have a revelation that He cares for them.

Look at what His Word says: "casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." Unless you have absolute confidence that Jesus cares for you, you will not cast your cares upon Him.

Just think, would you call upon the help of a relative or friend in your time of need if you were not confident that the person would respond to your call? Jesus cares for you. When you call upon Him, know that you have His fullest attention with all of heaven’s resources backing you up!

Maybe you are thinking right now, “Well, I am sure that Jesus has more important things to do than to bother with my problem.” Hang on. By saying that, you have just shown that you don’t really believe that Jesus cares for you.

Now, let's see what the Bible says: “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows” (Luke 12:7).

I love and care for my sweet daughter, Jessica. But as much as I adore her and care for her well-being, I have never, not once, counted the number of strands of hair on her head! She does not know how great a blessing she has been to me. I love to kiss her, smell her hair, and hug her tightly. Yet, in all my great love for her, I have never taken the time to count the number of strands of hair on her head in all these years!

But do you know that your heavenly Father numbers the hairs on your head? I really hope that you are beginning to catch the heart of Jesus and not generalize His love for you. His love for you is all-encompassing. If He cares enough to keep track of the hairs on your head, is there anything too small for Him that you cannot talk to Him about?

God's love for you is infinitely detailed. Jesus said that not one sparrow falls to the ground apart from the Father's will (Matt. 10:29). Are you not of more value than a sparrow?

Is God a God who winds the clock and leaves it alone to tick until Jesus comes back? Is He only involved with major events in the world? Is He only involved in significant events in our lives like our salvation, or is He vitally and intensely involved in the day-to-day minute details of your life? What do you think?

The Bible says that He calls His own sheep by name (John 10:3, 14). My friend, His love for you is personal, detailed, and in-depth! Your heavenly Father wants you to involve Him even in the smallest, most mundane matters of your life, and see His unmerited favor surround you, protect you, and lead you to good success.

How Much Has God Forgiven You?

“Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head.…Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”

Luke 7:44, 47

The main clause of the new covenant is found in Hebrews 8:12—“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” Some people hear me teach this and immediately ask me, “If believers know that all their sins have already been forgiven and forgotten, won’t they go ahead and sin?”

Well, I have yet to encounter anyone who, after knowing the truth of Hebrews 8:12 and the Lord’s grace, says to himself, “Yippee! Now I can go out and sin!” However, I have encountered sincere people who have given up and walked away from God because they didn’t know or believe the truth of Hebrews 8:12.

To earn God’s forgiveness, they tried to keep the laws of the old covenant, only to fail consistently and end up feeling like hypocrites. In contrast, those who have received and believed the truth of Hebrews 8:12 and other new covenant truths have had their lives, marriages, and families gloriously transformed by the grace of our Lord Jesus.

I had a couple come up to me once and tell me they would like to be married in our church. They told me that they had in fact been married to each other before and had kids but that they had been separated for many years.

Somehow, separately, they both started attending our church and after listening to the teaching on forgiveness and God’s grace, God began to restore their relationship and they wanted to be remarried. Isn’t that wonderful? How many kids have the privilege of witnessing their parents’ wedding ceremony!

That’s the power of the gospel of Christ. It is able to mend broken lives and restore broken relationships!

My friend, knowing you are completely forgiven destroys the power of sin in your life. I know how this revelation has transformed my life just as it did the woman in today’s scripture. She brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil into the house of Simon, a Pharisee, and anointed Jesus’ feet.

And Jesus Himself said to Simon that those who are forgiven much will love Him much. So the more you realize that you have been forgiven much, actually, of all your sins, the more you will love the Lord Jesus. Receiving God’s forgiveness does not lead to a life of sin, but a life of loving and glorifying the Lord Jesus.

What do you think the woman’s response would have been after she had departed from Jesus? Would she have desired to continue living a life of sin, or would she, knowing that she has been forgiven much by God’s grace, be strengthened to live a life that honored and glorified Jesus?

Come on, folks! All of us, including myself, have been forgiven much. All of us have broken the Ten Commandments many times over. If we have not done so in action, we have done so in our hearts and minds.

So when you understand how much you have been forgiven, because that is how much God loves you, you can’t help but love Him much. This is the key to loving the Lord and enjoying your relationship with Him.

Beloved, when you fail, come to Jesus with the boldness and confidence that this woman had. Come and pour out everything that is on your heart to Him.

Don’t worry, He won’t dump more guilt and condemnation on you. He will remind you of the cross and say, “Your sins are already forgiven. I have already paid the price for your sins at Calvary. Rest in My forgiveness and love for you.”

A Door of Hope

“I will return her vineyards to her and transform the Valley of Trouble into a gateway of hope.”

Hosea 2:15 NLT

Are you among the people who think that when you fail, God leaves you and only returns when you get your act together? Some people think that they must clean up their lives and overcome all their struggles on their own before they can come before the presence of God. Well, I have a simple question for you: Do you clean yourself before you take a bath? Of course not!

In the same way, God wants you to come to Him just as you are, with all your weaknesses, idiosyncrasies, wrong beliefs, hang-ups, and all your bondages, fears, and addictions. He is the bath! You don’t have to try to clean yourself up before you come to Him.

But Pastor Prince, what if the mess I’m in is entirely of my own doing? Can I still just come to God as I am and expect Him to help me?

Yes, even if your trouble is due to your own willfulness or a mistake of your own making, He is still with you. He has never left you, and He never will. He will never forsake you (Heb. 13:5).

You are precious in His eyes. Can you imagine living life with the kind of confidence, assurance, and peace that comes when you are truly anchored in this truth?

Today, even if you find yourself in the Valley of Trouble, know that you will not remain there for long. You will walk through it and not remain or camp there (Ps. 23:4).

God is opening a door of hope in your life today for you to step out of your darkness and into His marvelous light (1 Pet. 2:9). Things are going to get better. The breakthroughs that you have been waiting for are coming your way.

Step through the door of hope and out of your Valley of Trouble today. Jesus is your door of hope!

Believe in His love for you and allow Him to lead you to freedom. In His loving presence, you will find forgiveness, healing, and restoration. He will mend your life and transform you from the inside out.

Experience His Presence

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.”

Psalm 91:1–2

My friend, today you can experience God’s presence in your life. Say to yourself, “The Lord is with me and I have His favor, blessings, and protection.”

Sense His shadow covering you. His shadow is a picture of nearness. You are not trying to get into the secret place; you are already there in Christ. In Christ, you can’t get any closer to God.

In the Old Testament, God showed Moses, the great patriarch, only His back parts (Ex. 33:22–23). That’s the old covenant—because of man’s failure, God was always departing and the children of Israel only saw His back.

The picture of the new covenant is God sending His only Son, Jesus Christ. It is the picture of the father running toward the prodigal son in spite of his failures. Under the new covenant, we are seated with our heavenly Father in Christ and we see the smile on His face! That is how close you are to God today.

So even if your feelings tell you that God is a million miles away, learn to trust His Word over your feelings. All you need to do is to utter the words “Father” or “Abba,” and immediately you will sense that He is closer than your own breath.

In the same way, even when you don’t seem to feel His presence, you can trust in Him. Trust doesn’t mean that there will be no butterflies in your stomach. Trust means that even though you have the butterflies, you still act on God’s Word.

Whatever it is you are afraid of doing, do it afraid while keeping your trust in the Lord. There are people who are afraid to leave their house, fly on a plane, pursue a new career, start a new friendship, volunteer in a ministry, visit a care group in church, or even show up for work.

Beloved, don’t let fear rule your life. If you’re thinking of embarking on something, most certainly, be led by the Spirit, seek wise counsel, count the cost, and make responsible decisions in your situation. Just don’t allow the butterflies in your stomach to dictate your life.

When you say to the Lord, “In You I trust,” it doesn’t mean you instantly stop feeling any fear. Trust means choosing to act on God’s Word in spite of the fear.

John 14, “Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God. Believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would’ve told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you….” What’s Jesus saying? I'm going to go and prepare a place for you. What’s the point of going and preparing a place for you if I’m not going to come back and take you? He’s like, Hello?

He says, “I go to prepare a place for you and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself. That where I am there you may be also.” Where is He? In heaven. We are the ones to change address. Jesus did not say, “Well, in your father’s house there’re many mansions and you are now going to prepare a place for Me. And if you prepare a place for Me, then you will receive Me unto yourself. So where you are, I will also be." He didn’t say that. He said, “I go to prepare a place for you and I will come back to receive you. So where I am there you will also be.” We change addresses, not Him. We are not here to prepare this world for the second coming. The world is going so crazy that at a certain point God will say enough is enough, and He takes us out of here.

I am sure we have all had someone say to us or we’ve said to them, “Don’t worry about it.” But then there is no follow up with the ‘how to” of the instruction. Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled.” The word translated “let” can also be translated as “stop”. He told His disciples to stop letting their hearts be troubled. He then followed with a declaration of His deity when He said, “You believe in God, believe also in Me.” What Jesus was saying was, What you believe about God believe also about Me.

This conversation took place at the Last Supper after Jesus revealed He would be betrayed and that Peter would deny Him three times. He told them to stop letting their hearts be troubled, and that He after He went to prepare a place for them, “I will come again and receive you unto Myself that where I am you may be also.”

The word translated “receive” can also mean "to take away” or “take up.” This was the tool that would allow them to stop letting their hearts be troubled.

Titus 2:11-13
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.

Jesus told the disciples that He was going to come again and take them up to where He is. Paul said that we ought to be looking for that too, and even described it as the glorious appearing. 

This gives us a very practical tool for dealing with our own difficulties in life. Jesus had told the group of disciples that some painful things were ahead, then immediately pointed their thinking past the moment and into the future. 

Philippians 3:20-21
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.

The hard things in life are only temporary. Recognizing this will not lessen the pain of them, but remembering our eagerly awaited future will help us through them. Someday, glorious Christ-like bodies will be ours because we believe in Him. And, someday, He’s coming to take us away to where He is to forever be with Him!
